Village of Sackets Harbor Board of Trustees
January 24, 2017
Special Meeting
112 N. Broad St.
Sackets Harbor, NY 13685
Present: Mayor
Vincent Battista, Deputy Mayor Barbara Boulton, Trustee Molly Reilly, Trustee
James Bray. Also present: Village Engineer Kris Dimmick, Heritage Area Director
David Altieri, DPW Superintendent Lonny Reinhardt, and Treasurer Jim
Yuhas. Absent: Trustee Daniel Frechette.
The Meeting was
called to order at 6:00 pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.
David Altieri
presented the information he had on the Market Square Park grants. There are
two grants, one for $50,000 for the Park Boundary Line, the pavers on both
sides of W. Main St. and grading. The second one is for $268,000 for the
sidewalk from the Public Dock to General Smith Drive, the boat Launch repair
and the picnic area. These are both matching grants where the Village provides
one half of the project. He will meet with the State representative to find out
what can be used as the local share for the projects.
Kris Dimmick
reviewed the options for the repair or replacement of the water tower on Co Rt
75. The cost to replace it is estimated to be 1.5 million. If it were repaired
for approximately $600,000 its life expectancy would be about 20 more years. In
a motion made by Mayor Battista, seconded by Trustee Reilly, it was decided to
move forward on the repairs and put it out to bid. Vote 4 ayes (Battista,
Boulton, Reilly and Bray), 0 nays.
He also reviewed
the Preliminary Engineering Report for the Water Intake Improvements and went
over the possible changes to the plan. Superintendent Reinhardt suggested
placing the new 18” intake pipe parallel to the old pipe and tying them
together to utilize the rest of the existing system. Kris Dimmick said they
need to do a survey and some other preliminary work, and will do some more
research on marine contractors to get a better idea on cost and feasibility.
A motion to adjourn
the meeting was made by Mayor Battista and seconded by Trustee Reilly at 7:54
pm. Vote 4 ayes (Battista, Boulton, Reilly and Bray), 0 nays.
